Provincial Parks in the Canadian Shield of Northwest Ontario

Northwestern Ontario has many of Ontario's Provincial Parks in it boundaries. Some of North America's most famous Canadian wilderness canoe routes are located in parks like Quetico, Wabakimi and Woodland Caribou. Here there are hundreds of miles of wilderness with very few people around making for the ideal Canadian canoeing experience. Sunset Country Travel Association has several members who offer canoe outfitting into these back country areas so check them out. Ontario's largest park is located in the far north - Polar Bear Provincial Park stretches for miles along the coast of James and Hudson Bays and is a natural jewel like few other areas. Trips up to the coast are available where you can see polar bears and do whale watching for beluga whales. There are also a number of Parks situated along river systems such as the Fawn, Pipestone, Otoskwin-Attawapiskat and the Turtle River Wilderness area that offer true remote canoe and camping experiences and incredible brook trout fishing. For family campers parks such as Rushing River, Blue Lake, Pakwash and Ojibway have fully serviced sites for campers, large RVs and tenters. Discover the beauty of Northwestern Ontario at one of our many Provincial Parks and get a true taste of the Great Canadian Experience!
