Black bears are just one of the many species of animals inhabiting our forests. Omnivores, black bears will eat just about anything they find including berries, small animals and they are a major predator of young deer fawns and moose calves. The largest bears in the region weigh close to 700 pounds. Black bears generally avoid people however they will pay you a visit if you leave food or garbage easily accessible to them.
